Having graduated PSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising with an emphasis in Graphic Design, Melissa entered the work world as a graphic designer and remained in that role until starting her family. Afterwards, she was a stay-at-home mom, freelancing occasionally and using her gifts and talents to benefit her church. In 2012, she re-entered the work world as Yearbook Advisor at Veritas School. After three years as Yearbook Advisor, she moved to teaching Digital Photography and Photoshop, both elective classes. She and her husband, Dave, have three children. Abby is a studying at The King’s College in Manhattan, NYC. Their two sons, Zach and Nate are both hard-working student-athletes in high school and middle school, respectively. When not teaching, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, pursuing photography, baking and reading. When the opportunity arises, she loves to go to the beach, hike and bike ride.
"I never imagined how much I would enjoy teaching—it is a privilege and a pleasure! It's also a small way to give back to the next generation. My hope is to instill in my students an appreciation for great photography so they may perceive and pursue God’s creativity, all the while nurturing the desire to bless others with their own great photographs. Teaching Digital Photography gives me a glimpse into the lives of my students, allowing me to see their world through their lens. These are the golden moments that are the reason I do what I do—why I teach and why I love photography."
